WordPress Installation - Top

To install this theme you must have a WordPress already installed on your website. If you already have working WordPress, ignore this step and go ahead. If NOT, follow the instructions given below.

Begin your installation:

  • Ensure that your web host provider meet the minimum requirements to run WordPress.
  • Download the most current version of WordPress.
  • Unzip the downloaded file on your hard drive.
  • Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.
  • Copy all files from WordPress folder from unzip file and upload the WordPress files to the desired location on your web server.
  • Refresh your website and you will see the language selection page. Select your language and click on the continue button to proceed.
  • Read all the given instruction and click on the "Let’s go" button to continue.
  • Now uou need to enter the name of the database you created earlier, User Name, Password and Database Host. Leave "Table Prefix" field as it is if you don't want to create multiple WordPress sites.
  • Click on submit button and WordPress will connect to your database.
  • After this, click on "Run the Install" button to continue.
  • Fill all the required fields for your WordPress website and Click on the Install WordPress button to continue. The WordPress will setup your website and finish the installation automatically.

Theme Installation - Top

You can upload compress zipped theme files in WordPress Theme Section or using hosting FTP.

Installing Feelings from the WordPress dashboard:

  • Download the zipped theme pack to your hard drive from themeforest and extract the ZIP file contents to a folder on your hard drive.
  • In the extracted folder you will find "feelings.zip" in Installable Theme folder.
  • Login to your WordPress Hosted site via admin account.
  • In the Appearance section on the left menu click "Themes".
  • Click on "Add New" button.
  • Click on "Upload Theme" button.
  • Click on "Choose File" button.
  • Click on "Install Now" button.
  • Browse and select feelings.zip file and select "Open"; Installation process will begin.
  • Click on "Activate" button. That's it.

Installation through FTP Hosting Account

  • Download the zipped theme pack to your hard drive from themeforest and extract the ZIP file contents to a folder on your hard drive.
  • In the extracted folder you will find "feelings.zip" in Installable Theme folder; Extract this file.
  • Login to your FTP account.
  • Open folder wp-content/themes through File Manager.
  • Upload Feelings folder to wp-content/themes.
  • Visit your WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes, There should be now one new theme called "Feelings" and click "Active" button.

Once you activate Feelings, install all required Plugins.

Optional - Import Theme Sample Data - Top

You can make your development more easier by importing Sample Data. You can find sample Data in XML file within Sample Data folder.

To Import Sample Data:

  1. Install and activate the Feelings theme. (See section above)
  2. Go to Tools > Import
  3. Click WordPress link (You will be asked to install WordPress Importer at the first time).
  4. Then upload Feelings XML file and complete the process.

Feelings supports two locations for custom WordPress menus:

  1. Main Menu – This is the Main Menu that shows in the Header area.
  2. Top Menu – This is the Top Menu that shows in the top bar area.

Header Menu supports 4 levels of dropdowns and The Top Menu supports 1 level of dropdown.

Setup A New Menu:

  • Step 1 Navigate to Appearance > Menus page.
  • Step 2 Click the Create A New Menu. Enter unique name for menu and then click the Create Menu button.

  • Step 3 Select a menu you have just created in step 2 and then click on Select button.
  • Step 4 Add menus from option given on left side and then click on Add to Menu button.
  • Step 5 Manage your menus by using the drag and drop functionality. To create a dropdown menu please see the screenshot below.
  • Step 6 Assign the menu to one of the 2 available locations in the Theme Locations box.
  • Step 7 Click Save Menu.

The Mega Menu - Top

Feelings has a built-in Mega Menu feature that can be enabled on First Level of menu item.

Create A Mega Menu:

  • Step 1 Navigate to Appearance > Menus page.
  • Step 2 Expand the menu item and check the ‘Enable Mega Menu’ checkbox to enable the mega menu. Please note: Only First Level of menu item can be enabled for the Mega Menu and this feature can be used for Main Menu location only.
  • Step 3 For Custom links or Pages set number of columns and for Categories Menu select Mega Category Posts from mega menu options.
  • Step 4 Second Level of menu items will display as a title for third level of menu items. To create a second level dropdown, just drag the menu item below (and move 1 step right) of the First Level of menu item.
  • Step 5 Third level of menu items will display under the second level (title). To create a third level dropdown, just drag the menu item below (and move 1 step right) of the Second Level of menu item.
  • Step 6 Click Save Menu. That's it!

Setup Homepage - Top

Feelings comes with 4 beautifull and attractive homepage blog styles. Just navigate to Apprearence >Theme Options >Homepage Settings and you can set any style from the list.

 If you would like to adjust the amount of posts shown per page you can go to Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most and change the number.

Homepage Slider Setup - Top

To configure your Homepage Slider:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Theme Options ->.
  2. Select Slider Options.
  3. Switch on "Home Slider" button.
  4. Choose number of slides by using "UI Slider".
  5. Select category from the dropdown categories field and the posts from this category will appear in homepage slider.

Setup Featured Posts on Bottom - Top

To configure Featured Posts:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Theme Options ->.
  2. Select Home Settings.
  3. Switch on "Featured Posts on Bottom" button.
  4. Select category from the dropdown categories field and the posts from this category will appear on bottom of homepage in Featured Posts area.

WooCommerce Shop - Top

One of great features of Feelings is that you can make an online shop with it.

Feelings is fully compatible with latest version of Woocommerce Plugin. We added required stylings to fit the design in all layouts. If you dont need Woocommerce simply dont install it and nothing will disturb you. But, if you need to set up a Shop just install WooCommerce like you do for other plugins. Thats it.

Please navigate to Plugins >Add New >Upload Plugin and install and activate it.

After activating WooCommerce, navigate to Products >Add Product and you are ready to create your first product.

Language Translations - Top

Feelings is a translation ready theme.

This theme can be translated into any language. The process of translating the theme is a user responsibility. The following instructions are given as guidance.

To translate in German / Urdu / Arabic Language Just go to Dashboard >Settings >General and find Site language. Select German / Urdu / Arabic language and your WordPress and theme will be translated to your language immediately.

For Other language users please follow these steps.

  1. Download and install POEDIT
  2. Connect to your site -> open your theme/languages directory
  3. Download the default.po file and open it with POEDIT.
  4. Translate file and save it as e.g fr_FR (fr_FR represents French (France) Language)
  5. Two files will be generated after save. fr_FR.po and fr_FR.mo
  6. Upload the .mo and .po files into wp-content/themes/feelings/languages folder

Posts and Pages - Top

Posts

Feelings comes with 6 different post formats: StandardAudioVideoQuoteGallery and Link Posts. When you're about to create a new post, choose what post format you would like and insert the necessary information through the Post Options Box under the post content editor.

You can also tailor the look of your post by going to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Post and Pages to hide/show different elements on the post page.

Standard

A standard post is the default post type. You can add text and images to your post using the tools and content editor.

Audio/Video

A Audio/video post displays a Audio/video at the top of your post. You can display audio/videos from any site which provides an embed code, e.g. SoundCloud, Vimeo or Youtube. Simply copy and paste the embed code into the textarea box given in post options under content editor of post. Audio/Video will appear when you'll publish this post.

Quote

Post displays a quote over featured image at the top of your post. Choose "Quote" from post format option located on right side of content editor. Then select "Post Format Quote" from "Post Options". Enter your quote and author name.

Gallery

A gallery post displays a slideshow of photos at the top of your post. Choose "Gallery" from post format option located on right side of content editor. Then click the "Add Media" button -> "Create Gallery" -> select whatever images you'd like from Media Library or upload new. After selecting images click on "Create a new gallery", and then click on "insert gallery" button.

Link

A link post displays a post title which contains a link provided you. Choose "Link" from post format option located on right side of content editor. Then select "Post Format Link" from "Post Options". Enter your link in the field.

Pages

Feelings comes with 2 different page templates: Contact Us and Template with Slider.  When you're about to create a new page, choose any of the Template mentioned above or choose "Default Template". You can also use page options through the Page Options Box under the page content editor.

To Create A New Page:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard -> Pages and clickAdd New.
  2. Enter a name for your page, then find the Page Attributes box on right side.
  3. Select your template from the dropdown list.
  4. Enter your content in content editor and publish this page.

You can also tailor the look of your post by going to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Post and Pages to hide/show different elements on the post page.

Plugins - Top

Feelings comes with 2 plugins included in main file of theme: Piethemes Shortcodes and PieThemes Contact Form plugins.  When you're intended to use shortcodes, install and activate Piethemes Shortcodes Plugin. Similarly, if you're going to use Contact US Page you have to install and activate PieThemes Contact Form Plugin

It is recommended to install and activate both of these plugins mentioned above at same time you install and activate this theme.

How to change Profile Picture (Author Avatar) ? - Top

The WordPress uses Gravatar to display users avatars. To create or change your Gravatar:

If you have never setup a Gravatar account:

  1. Register / login to Gravatar. Upon registering, use the SAME email address that is linked with your WordPress User Profile.
  2. Upload your photo and use the same email address.

If you already registered at gravatar.com, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "My Gravatars".
  2. click on "Add a New Image".
  3. Upload an image.
  4. Select your image from bottom. Now it's associated with that email address. Click Save. Thats it!
